Quite Imposing and Quite Imposing Plus Version 3 have been released
JAN 27, 2011. Quite Imposing Version 3 and Quite Imposing Plus Version 3
are now available, and we're offering discounted pricing on Version 3 upgrades purchased on or before
April 1, 2011.
What are Quite Imposing and Quite Imposing Plus?
Quite Imposing and Quite Imposing Plus are Adobe Acrobat plug-ins that allow
you to handle page-imposition tasks and related tasks. In other words: to use Quite Imposing or Quite Imposing Plus,
you point and click with your mouse from within Adobe Acrobat.
Quite Imposing and Quite Imposing Plus accept PDF files as input and generate PDF files as output.
Features include n-up, booklet making (creating saddle-stitched books), cropping pages, adding crop marks,
re-ordering pages, scaling to make pages larger or smaller, adding whitespace, re-positioning text &
graphics on pages, adding page numbers, adding Bates numbers, adding arbitrary text and variable text
such as the document filename, masking out (obscuring) text & graphics, more.
Quite Imposing Version 3 and Quite Imposing Plus Version 3 are fully compatible with Adobe Acrobat 10
(NOTE: some but not all Version 2 releases of Quite Imposing and Quite Imposing Plus with Adobe Acrobat 10),
and the list of Version 3 enhancements is long.
What's new in Version 3 of Quite Imposing/Quite Imposing Plus?
- Tile (Split) Pages. This feature lets you split pages into multiple separate pages, or "tiles."
Use this feature to extract pages from an imposed sheet or to make tiles. Available in
Quite Imposing Plus only.
- Duplicate Pages. This feature lets you duplicate pages easily, with or without collation, without
bloating the file size. Available in Quite Imposing Plus only.
- Adjust Page Sizes. This is a collection of features that make it easy to modify the size and/or shape
of one page, some pages, or all pages in a PDF file. Available in Quite Imposing Plus only.
- Creep Assistant (Trim and Shift). This feature offers a simple way to set up creep for booklets.
(The software uses the paper thickness to calculate creep values automatically.)
- Stick on Text & Numbers. This feature replaces the "Stick on Page Numbers" feature from
previous versions of the software. It lets you put a number of different kinds of variable data on pages or sheets:
page numbers, page count, filename, date and time. Sequential numbering need not be in increments of one (for example, you can have
a numbering sequence like 10, 20, 30). Also, numbers can be repeated in a sequence: 001, 001, 002, 002, 003, 003;
this feature is useful for numbering multi-page originals. You can also skip pages when doing sequential numbering: for example,
you can number every fifth page. Available in Quite Imposing Plus only.
- N-up and Step-and-Repeat Mirroring. This feature automatically aligns the pages on the back of a press
sheet with the pages on the front of it.
- Shuffle Pages. Shuffling pages happens faster, and resulting file sizes are smaller. The "Shuffle Assistant"
handles layouts that repeat pages (for example, step & repeat, repeated impositions, work & tumble). Shuffle Assistant
recognizes signatures that repeat over more sheets (in previous versions of the software, this was limited to repeats of
two sheets or four sheets). Shuffle Assistant now handles layouts up to 8 x 8. Available in
Quite Imposing Plus only.
- Insert Pages. This feature replaces the "Insert Blank Pages" feature from previous versions of
the software. You can insert pages from a file, with the option of duplicating pages as they are inserted. Conditionally
add pages from a file, or add blank pages, to meet a page count or signature size. You can insert in a position relative
to the last page. Available in Quite Imposing Plus only.
- Manual Imposition Undo. Unlimited Undo levels when placing pages.
- Enhanced PDF/X support. For PDF/X data preservation, PDF/X-4 and PDF/X-5 are now supported
in addition to PDF/X-1a and PDF/X-3. Available in Quite Imposing Plus only.
- Faster processing and reduced file sizes. You'll enjoy faster processing and reduced file size when you make duplicate pages
when shuffling pages.
Viewing and editing automation sequences is faster, too.
And, in Mac OS X, long documents will often process much faster than in previous
versions of the software.
- Automation improvements. New commands for moving, rotating, deleting, and adding pages; adding text automatically
(for example, adding the filename); page ranges and page numbers can be relative to the last page in the document (this is
useful in situations where the final page count is unknown). Available in Quite Imposing Plus only.
